Most fragrance manufacturers offer no transparent roadmap for prospective distributors. You fill in a contact form, wait, and hope someone calls back. ELiX operates differently. As a founder-led company that has been manufacturing fragrance products in Wrocław, Poland since 1999, we believe that a distributor who understands exactly what the path looks like is a better long-term partner — and a faster one.
This article sets out the complete process: how ELiX segments its distribution markets, what we look for in a partner, how the exclusivity mechanism works, and how smaller buyers and e-commerce operators can access our portfolio through our B2B ordering platform.
Why ELiX Distribution Is Different From Most Fragrance Brands
ELiX occupies an unusual position in the European fragrance manufacturing landscape. We are, as far as we are aware, the only certified EU producer that operates simultaneously across five product categories under its own brands: car and home air fresheners, premium laundry care (Amarella), Eau de Parfum body perfumes (HIKARI), and pure essential oils.
This breadth matters for distributors for a concrete reason: the fragrance expertise required to formulate fine body perfumes and essential oils flows directly into the quality of our air fresheners and laundry products. The scent profiles are developed by the same perfumers who create HIKARI Eau de Parfum — giving our FMCG products a depth of character that commodity fragrance blends cannot match.
Our production is BRC GS-certified, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 compliant, independently verified by TÜV SÜD. All products ship with full REACH/CLP documentation, SDS packs, and UFI codes as standard. For a distributor, this means no compliance surprises and straightforward listing in retail chains and online marketplaces across the EU.
Understanding the Three ELiX Distribution Markets
ELiX does not treat all distribution as a single category. We operate three clearly separated market segments, and in most cases a distributor specialises in one — rarely all three. Each has its own channel logic, customer base, and competitive dynamics.
Market 1 Automotive Accessories — Car Air Fresheners
This is the traditional FMCG channel: petrol stations, car washes, automotive accessories retailers, and hypermarkets with automotive sections. It is an impulse-purchase category. Products rotate quickly, and success depends on shelf presence, regular new launches, and a range broad enough to fill an entire category from a single supplier.
The natural distribution partner for this market is an importer or wholesale distributor who already has access to these trade channels — petrol station chains, automotive accessories networks, car wash supply companies, or general FMCG importers who cover the non-food shelf. The key qualifier is not size: it is existing customer relationships in the channel.
The ELiX car air freshener portfolio covers all major formats: perfumery-inspired paper fresheners (BONDÉ, PIECE of ART, TULIP, Fresh Smile), wooden bottle diffusers (CAR Perfume No. 5, elixir 5, elixir 8, Fresh Bottle, Green WOOD), spray formats (DRIFT, MIST Shadow Bubbles, Grand Perfume, Air Perfume), membrane fresheners (AURA), and scented sachets (Sachet Parfume). The full range is available at elixscent.com/products. Fragrances are developed by the same perfumers who create HIKARI Eau de Parfum — a structural advantage over competitors sourcing commodity fragrance blends.
Market 2 Home Products — Home Fragrance & Amarella Laundry
The home segment covers two distinct sub-categories: home air fresheners (reed diffusers, room sprays, scented sachets, organic formats) and the full Amarella premium laundry programme.
Amarella is a laundry care range — washing gel, fabric conditioner, fragrance boosters, laundry perfume oils, and a certified hypoallergenic line — positioned for e-commerce and specialist retail. It is not a mass FMCG brand; it targets consumers who are willing to pay more for premium results and measurable fragrance quality. Amarella’s hypoallergenic line is a separately certifiable, separately listable segment for distributors targeting sensitive-skin and allergy-aware buyers.
Market 3 Fine Fragrance — HIKARI Eau de Parfum
HIKARI is ELiX’s Eau de Parfum collection — six compositions inspired by the world’s most recognisable scent directions, including interpretations of Sauvage (Dior), Chanel No. 5, Black Opium (YSL), 1 Million (Paco Rabanne), Amber Romance, and Lost Cherry (Tom Ford). Each composition is an independent artistic interpretation with full EdP performance: skin development, lasting power, and a wearable finish for everyday use and gifting.
HIKARI targets niche and outlet perfumeries, fragrance e-commerce, and travel retail. The target distributor has existing access to perfumery or beauty retail channels — not automotive or grocery.
How the ELiX Distributor Network Works: Existing Exclusivity and Open Territories
Before approaching ELiX about distribution, it is important to understand how our network is structured. In countries and regions where ELiX already has an exclusive authorised representative for a specific market segment, all inquiries about those products are redirected to that representative. We do not negotiate parallel distribution in protected territories.
In territories where no exclusive distribution exists, we are actively seeking the right partners. If your country or region is open, the process below applies in full.
How to find out if your territory is available: Use the partner inquiry form at elixscent.com/distributor and include your country, the market segment you are interested in (automotive, home/laundry, or fine fragrance), and a brief description of your current channels and customer base. We will confirm availability and, if the territory is open, move to the next phase.
What ELiX Looks for in a Distribution Partner
Not every inquiry becomes a distribution partnership. We are selective about who represents ELiX in each market, because the quality of distribution directly affects brand perception. The three questions we ask every prospective partner:
We are looking for distributors who can sustain container-level or consistent pallet orders over time — not one-off buyers. The minimum first order threshold for exclusivity conversations is €8,000.
Exclusivity is awarded to partners who can demonstrate existing market access — specific retail chains, wholesalers, petrol station networks, e-commerce platforms, or perfumery chains, depending on the market segment. If you already have the customers, we can begin the conversation about protecting your territory.
ELiX invests in product quality, certification, and fragrance development. We look for distribution partners who understand that long-term sell-through depends on positioning — not on discounting the brand into commodity territory.
The Territorial Exclusivity Path: Step by Step
ELiX uses a staged exclusivity model that protects serious distributors while ensuring genuine market commitment. The process is the same for automotive, home/laundry, and fine fragrance segments, with thresholds that may be adjusted based on territory size and market potential.
Submit your inquiry via the Become a Strategic Partner form with your territory, target market segment, and a summary of your current distribution network and customer base. We assess territory availability and partner fit. Response within 24 hours.
We provide samples, product information, and commercial terms for your territory. You have the opportunity to test products with your customers and assess sell-through potential before committing.
Upon placing your first qualifying order of €8,000 or more, ELiX grants 6 months of temporary territorial protection for the relevant market segment in your region. During this period, we will not appoint competing distribution partners in your territory. This gives you time to build market presence before the formal exclusivity agreement is signed. The €8,000 threshold is a standard baseline — it may be adjusted up or down based on territory size and assessed market potential.
If, within the 6-month protection period, you place a second qualifying order of €8,000 or more, ELiX proceeds to formalise the distribution relationship in the form of a territorial and product exclusivity agreement. The agreement defines the territory, the specific market segment(s) covered, minimum annual volume commitments, and support obligations on both sides. Exclusivity is product-segment specific: car, home/laundry, and fine fragrance can be assigned independently.
The two-order model is intentional. The first order demonstrates buying intent; the reorder demonstrates that you have activated the market. Exclusivity is awarded to partners who sell — not partners who stockpile.
Exclusivity Model Summary
| Stage | Requirement | What You Receive | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| First order | Min. €8,000 order value | Temporary territorial protection | 6 months |
| Reorder | Min. €8,000 within 6 months of first order | Formal exclusivity agreement | Ongoing (per contract) |
| Territory-specific adjustment | Negotiated case by case | Modified thresholds for smaller / larger markets | Per agreement |
Note: Thresholds listed are standard baselines. ELiX may adjust minimum order values upward or downward based on the assessed size and commercial potential of the specific territory.
E-Commerce Distribution: A Separately Negotiated Channel
E-commerce distribution is treated differently from physical retail distribution at ELiX — and deliberately so. Online markets do not respect geographic borders in the same way that traditional trade does, and without specific controls, an e-commerce partnership in one country can undercut exclusivity agreements elsewhere.
For this reason, every e-commerce distribution arrangement is discussed and agreed individually. There is no standard template. The conversation covers the platforms the partner operates on (Amazon, Allegro, eBay, local marketplaces, own-brand D2C), the countries the partner ships to, the product segments involved, and any pricing alignment requirements. Amarella is the most common product range requested for e-commerce distribution, given its proven marketplace performance and strong review profile.
If you are an e-commerce operator interested in distributing ELiX, Amarella, or HIKARI products, contact us directly to open the conversation. We will assess platform fit, territorial overlap with existing partners, and applicable commercial terms on a case-by-case basis.
For Smaller Buyers and Retail Stores: The ELiX B2B Platform
Not every business relationship begins at €8,000. Retail stores, independent shop owners, smaller wholesalers, and businesses that want to test the range before committing to a full distribution agreement can access the ELiX portfolio through our dedicated B2B ordering platform at partner.airfresh24.com.
The platform allows you to:
- Browse the full ELiX, Amarella, and HIKARI product catalogue with B2B pricing
- Place orders independently, without a minimum order threshold above standard wholesale minimums
- Access product documentation, SDS sheets, and compliance files
- Manage repeat orders and order history
The B2B platform is the right entry point if you are: a retail shop wanting to list ELiX products without committing to full distributor volumes; a smaller wholesaler building an initial relationship with the brand; or a buyer who wants to test product performance with your customers before discussing larger volumes.
Access to the platform is granted upon request. Contact us to register your business and receive your login credentials.
How ELiX Compares: What Most Fragrance Manufacturers Don’t Publish
Most fragrance and air freshener manufacturers — including some of the largest names in the category — do not publish their distributor qualification criteria or exclusivity terms. Areon (a major Bulgarian air freshener producer distributed in 60+ countries) lists no public distributor program. Little Trees (Car-Freshner Corporation) operates a closed distribution network with no public application process. Major laundry fragrance brands route all wholesale inquiries through brand-managed sales teams with undisclosed terms.
The result is that prospective distributors must navigate opaque processes with no clear timeline, no stated minimums, and no published protection mechanism.
ELiX’s position is different: we publish the process, the thresholds, and the protection mechanism explicitly. This reflects our belief that a distributor who understands the rules before entering is a more committed and better-performing partner.
| Criterion | Typical European Air Freshener Manufacturer | ELiX |
|---|---|---|
| Published distributor process | Rarely — usually “contact us“ | Yes — full process published |
| Stated minimum order for exclusivity | Undisclosed | €8,000 (standard; territory-adjustable) |
| Temporary protection mechanism | Rare / informal | Yes — 6 months after first qualifying order |
| E-commerce channel policy | Often silent | Individually negotiated, explicitly agreed |
| Smaller buyer access | Varies — often opaque | B2B platform (partner.airfresh24.com) |
| Product range breadth | Usually single category | Car, home, laundry, body perfume, essential oils |
| EU certification | Varies | BRC GS, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, TÜV SÜD, REACH/CLP |

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I distribute more than one ELiX market segment in my territory?
Yes, if you have the channels for it. Automotive, home/laundry, and fine fragrance exclusivities are assigned independently. A distributor can hold exclusivity in one, two, or all three segments. Each segment follows the same qualification process and has its own minimum order thresholds.
What happens if my territory already has an exclusive ELiX distributor?
If ELiX has an exclusive authorised representative for your territory in the relevant market segment, we will direct your inquiry to that representative. We do not appoint competing distributors in protected territories.
Is the €8,000 minimum order threshold fixed?
No. The €8,000 figure is the standard baseline for a typical mid-sized European market. For smaller territories with lower population and trade potential, this threshold may be adjusted downward. For large markets (major EU economies, large countries in other regions), it may be set higher to reflect realistic volume expectations. All adjustments are agreed at the start of the commercial conversation.
Can I start with e-commerce distribution and move into physical retail later?
Yes. Many of our partners start with online channels and expand into physical retail as the brand gains recognition. However, because e-commerce and physical distribution have different territorial implications, they are managed as separate arrangements and require separate agreements.
What is the difference between the B2B platform and a full distribution partnership?
The B2B platform (partner.airfresh24.com) is designed for smaller buyers, retail stores, and businesses that want to order without committing to full distributor volumes. It offers standard wholesale pricing without territorial protection or marketing support. A full distribution partnership involves a formal agreement, territorial exclusivity, trade marketing support, and a direct commercial relationship with the ELiX sales team.
Does ELiX offer Private Label manufacturing in addition to brand distribution?
Yes. ELiX operates a separate Private Label and OEM manufacturing division. If you are interested in launching your own fragrance product line rather than distributing ELiX brands, visit the Private Label section of elixscent.com. Brand distribution and Private Label are independent paths and can be pursued simultaneously or separately.
What certifications does ELiX hold?
ELiX production in Wrocław, Poland is certified to BRC GS (food safety and FMCG standard), ISO 9001 (quality management), and ISO 14001 (environmental management), with independent verification by TÜV SÜD. All products are manufactured in compliance with REACH and CLP regulations, with UFI/PCN registration supported as standard. HIKARI Eau de Parfum is IFRA compliant and EU Safety Tested.
