It\u2019s true it isn\u2019t easy \ud83d\ude04, as the regulations are detailed, the documentation requirements are extensive, and the stakes, from market access to brand reputation, are high. Yet, with the right knowledge and the right partners, businesses like yours can transform compliance into a genuine competitive advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is a reach certificate of compliance?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals<\/em>) is the principal regulation governing chemicals within the EU (European Union). Its primary objective is to safeguard human health and the environment from the risks associated with chemical substances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under REACH, businesses are required to identify and manage the risks linked to the substances they manufacture or place on the EU market.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Companies must demonstrate to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) that their products are safe, and they are also obliged to communicate risk management measures to end users throughout the supply chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Introduced in 2006 as Regulation (EC) No 1907\/2006, REACH enhances transparency and knowledge about chemicals used in the EU and also actively encourages the adoption of safer alternatives. By promoting the reduction or substitution of hazardous substances, REACH aims to minimise potential harm and drive continuous improvement in chemical safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compliance is not optional companies must register all chemical substances manufactured or imported into the EU in quantities above one tonne per year. This includes providing detailed information on the properties, uses, and potential risks of each substance. Firms are also responsible for supplying safety data so that downstream users can handle these chemicals appropriately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) serves as the regulatory authority, maintaining and regularly updating official lists of restricted substances. Certain chemicals, particularly those classified as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs)<\/strong> such as those that are carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic to reproduction, or bioaccumulative require explicit authorisation before they can be used or imported into the EU. For SVHCs, there is a strict limit of 0.1% of the total product weight, applicable across all product categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) oversees the implementation of REACH and manages several official lists that regulate the use of chemical substances in the EU. What is CLP?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While discussing this topic, we would also like to draw your attention to another closely related regulation. CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) is a regulation introduced by the EU that sets out the rules for the classification, labelling, and packaging of chemical substances and mixtures. Its primary aim is to ensure that end users receive clear and understandable information about the hazards associated with a given product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
